Senator Manny Pacquiao took the senate floor expressing one’s support for Senator Bong Go’s privilege speech wherein he defended the Malasakit Center being questioned by Albay Representative Edcel Lagman.

Pacquiao poured his heart out during the less than five-minute speech saying that he is deeeply hurt whenever a noble pro-poor program is being questioned by critics. He said he is bewildered by the mindset of Filipino politicians who always go against a program even if it alleviates the sufferings of the poor just because it is the program of their political enemies.

Pacquiao said this has been the culture of PH politics. When a new leader is elected, he stops the program of one’s predecessor even if it is good simply because they came from different political parties. “Why can’t we just support it?” Pacquiao asked.

Pacquiao told the Senate President that it is high time that we exposed these kinds of politicians whose existence is to oppose for the sake of opposing because of pity partisan politics.

Pacquiao remarked that as someone who came from humble beginnings, he is deeply hurt when pro-poor programs like the Malasakit Center is being criticized.

That is why, he wants to help the poor even it means giving away his wealth and becoming poor again and share their sufferings.

Pacquiao said he is not a greedy person that he would hide his wealth in the bank and do nothing for the poor because when he die, he won’t be taking his wealth to the other side. As Pacquiao remarked, “We came into this world naked, and we will depart alone and naked.

Pacquiao threw shades at Lagman and fellow politicians that if they are always against the pro-poor programs of the government, they’ d better quit from government service because they have no use to the people.

Pacquaio swore that he can testify against Lagman as someone who is always against the poor.

Pacquiao ended his speech urging other wealthy Filipinos to shared their wealth and help the poor Filipinos because when they die, they will leave it anyway.

We came into this world naked, and we will depart alone and naked. Wala tayong madadala. Iiwanan natin lahat yan.

We will depart alone.
