Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez Alcasid has been very vocal calling for the extension of ABS-CBN’s franchise, which is until now in limbo after Congress has yet to pass a law for that purpose. On Instagram, Asia’s Songbird sounded very emotional and desperate at the thought that the Filipinos will be deprived of their favorite loveteams, SOAP dramas if ABS-CBN’s franchise failed to get an extension from Congress. The title of the Abante.com article perfectly captured the sentiment of the Songbird in the event ABS-CBN goes off the air after March 30, 2020, “Paano ang Pinoy kung walang Cardo, Vice Ganda,

Perhaps, to put an end to the Duterte bashing and finger-pointing regarding the impending non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise, retired broadcaster Jay Sonza took to Facebook to set the record straight why the network failed to get an extension during noynoy Aquino’s time. Sonza cited 11 reasons why the giant network is now in deep hole and in danger of losing the right to air their TV shows and news programs after March 30, 2020. According to Sonza, as early as 2014, the network applied for a renewal or extension of its franchise during Noynoy Aquino’s presidency. In fact, there were

The supporters and sympathizers of ABS-CBN and the local media want to make it appear that the non-extension of ABS-CBN’s franchise is an attack of press freedom. However, retired broadcaster Jay Sonza won’t buy this argument of Duterte critics that the attack on ABS-CBN is an attack of press freedom. Sonza was a former ABS-CBN executive who resigned from his lucrative job to sympathize with his Mel & Jay co-host Mel Tiangco who was suspended by the network for appearing in a soap commercial. As ABS-CBN’s franchise is nearing its expiry date, its TV talents or artistas are desperately launching the offensive to convince or pressure President Duterte to grant new franchise to the TV network. Young ABS-CBN actress Liza Soberano was one of the latest ABS-CBN talents calling President Duterte to rethink his stance on the franchise renewal of the TV network, noting the employees who will lose their jobs if its broadcast operations cease. On this note, radio host and lawyer Trixie Cruz-Angeles of Karambola and admin of the Facebook page ‘Luminous by Trixie Cruz-Angeles & Ahmed Paglinawan‘ wrote an open letter

So its all over the news, Congress has announced to review ABS-CBN’s application for renewal of its franchise. Rep. Franz Alvarez, chairman if the franchise committee of the House of Representatives assured the public that his committee will give ABS-CBN and all parties concern a chance in the deliberation on the franchise renewal issue. On that note, retired broadcaster Jay Sonza wrote an open letter on Facebook addressed to Rep. Franz Alvarez enumerating the various alleged violations of the network (which you can find the original FB post below) to help Congressmen in deciding against ABS-CBN’s favor. Sonza remarked that

“If they cannot provide fair and balanced news and TV programs then its time for them to stop. “ Basically, this is the sentiment of Duterte supporter and blogger Noel Landero Sarifa regarding the issue of ABS-CBN and its franchise renewal which many DDS also shares. Sarifa remarked that this is the first time he will talk about the ABS-CBN franchise issue apparently to tell the artists and fanatics of the network to stop blaming President Duterte on the matter but rather to ask the management as to why they let this happen. Sarifa argued that the blame should fall

“Tandaan mo kaibigan isa ka lang murang basong babasagin sa tingin ng mga oligarko na puwedeng ihulog at mabasag ng pinong-pino Alan.“ This is the friendly reminder of retired broadcaster Jay Sonza to House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano after the latter expressed openness to tackling the issue of ABS-CBN’s application for franchise renewal. Sonza opened the Facebook post telling House Speaker Cayetano that it is too obvious that he is just the mere “toy” of the oligarchs/feudal lords and that he is too obvious for the public not to notice how he cuddles the network. Alan Peter Cayetano, masyadong kang

ABS-CBN talents like Angel Locsin and Baron Geisler are very vocal, if not passionate campaigning for the franchise renewal of their mother studio. Like Jay Sonza, we perfectly undertand why Locsin, Geisler and other ASB-CBN talents are passionately fighting for the Congressional franchise of ABS-CBN. ABS-CBN is their employer and if the employer closes shop because of lack of license to operate, in this case, Congressional franchise, Locsin and company will be looking at an uncertain future, considering we only have two major and one minor player in the TV industry. Sonza, a former ABS-CBN broadcaster whose ugly divorce with

La Salle professor Van Ybiernas had expressed his support for the non-renewal of ABS-CBN franchise on Facebook. Ybiernas, a pro-Duterte supporter from the academe, also believed that the ABS-CBN franchise isn’t getting an extension not because of PRRD but because politicians hate ABS-CBN. Ybiernas recalled that during PNoy’s time, someone pushed for the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise but it did not push forward. Ybiernas noted that under the Duterte admin, no one from Congress is pushing for it, so why would Malacanang give the go-signal? Just because ABS-CBN is there, Congress automatically renews its franchise. Ybiernas wrote this is not

Popular blogger Sass Rogando Sasot just issued an intriguing dare to ABS-CBN big stars and should they accept it, ABS-CBN closure isn’t going to happen. Sasot’s dare is very straightforward – ABS-CBN’s big stars waive their talent fees to pay for ABS-CBN’s P2B debt from the government. That is, if they don’t want to see ABS-CBN closes shop and if they are really concern for the small employees in the company. If they can do that, Sasot assured the big stars, the public will applaud them for the efforts. Wala pang 2 billion Php utang ng Lopezes sa Gobyeno. Talent
