In response to the filing of conspiracy to commit sedition case he and company is facing, former Senator Trillanes dismissed this as mere political harassment.

Trillanes remarked that the filing of the case is solid proof that the Duterte admin is weaponizing the law against political opposition, critics and the media.

The former senator ended the statement with bold words by assuring President Duterte that he and the opposition will not be cowed by such political persecution. On the contrary, they are more determined and motivated to continue their fight for democracy and rights of the people.

Meanwhile, Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles of the FB Page “Luminous by Trixie Cruz-Angeles & Ahmed Paglinawan” remarked that Trillanes does not understand when he said the Duterte admin is weaponizing the law to go after critics like him, the media and the Opposition. According to her, it must be because it is his interest not to understand, play stupid? But, we all should.

Former Sen. Trillanes does not understand. Probably because it is in his interests not to understand, but we all should.

Angeles agreed with Trillanes that the law is a weapon. A weapon to cut down wrong doers and put them in jail.

The law IS A WEAPON. It is the sword to cut down wrong doers and put them in jail, it is the guide to acceptable behavior, it is the expression of our highest ideals.

Angeles elaborated that the law is created to take dangerous people out of society, control the excesses of the human instinct for greed, lust and revenge.

The law takes dangerous people out of society, it regulates excesses of the human instinct for greed, lust, revenge.

Angeles said the law being applied against Trillanes’ ambition does not make the sword-wielder (the government) wrong. In fact, it proves the stupidity of its target (Trillanes and company), sitting there knowing that the crime will catch up on him.

That it is used to rein in Mr. Trillanes’ ambition does not make the sword-wielder wrong. It just proves stupidity of its target, sitting there knowing that all these will catch up on him.
